Organizational Units
An organizational unit — OU for short — is a department, team, function or subsidiary inside your organization: Human Resources, Marketing, IT, the Lisbon office. Every processing activity belongs to exactly one unit, and the unit is how the register is grouped, filtered and coloured: activity cards on the dashboard carry their unit's colour, the sidebar filters the register by unit, and the ROPA PDF is laid out unit by unit.
Units mirror how responsibility is distributed in your organization, so that each activity has an obvious owner and an auditor can see at a glance which part of the company does what with personal data. Three to ten units is typical; you can add more at any time and move activities between them as the organization changes.
Units are managed from the dashboard in Edit mode; only administrators can change them.

| Colour | Required; carried by every activity card in the unit, so pick colours that are easy to tell apart |
