Languages
A register can be kept in several languages at the same time. Each language is a full copy of the register — every unit, every activity, every text — and one of them is the default. Members, auditors and visitors each read the register in the language they pick from the flag menu, and every document is available in every configured language: the Spanish subsidiary reads and prints the register in Spanish, the group DPO in English, and both are looking at the same activities.
Languages are configured in Edit mode under Organization settings → Configure languages, by administrators. The screen relies on drag-and-drop and needs a desktop; on a phone the tile is disabled.
Default, configured and available
Every language supported by the application is in one of three states for your organization:
- Default — exactly one. It is what the application shows when nothing else is specified, and it is the reference text: every other language is generated from it.
- Configured — the additional languages your register is kept in.
- Available — supported by the application but not used by this organization.
When a language is added, the application creates its copy of the register by machine-translating every text from the default language, so the new language is complete from the first minute; the translations are then yours to review and correct, activity by activity. When a language is removed, all register data in that language is deleted permanently.
What gets translated is the register itself — the names of units and activities, every text field of every activity, and the documents produced from them. Organizations, partners, contacts and contracts are shared across languages and are not translated; neither are custom templates, which apply to every language alike.
Pick the default language before you write anything. Every activity you create is written in the current language, and the default is what all other languages are generated from.
