Using the App on Mobile Devices

Date: 2026-07-19 Version: 1.0

The app works on phones and tablets for consulting your Register of Processing Activities and for occasional, emergency edits. Day-to-day administration β€” and especially template editing β€” is designed for desktop screens.

What works on a phone

  • Browsing the register β€” the dashboard shows one activity card per row; tap a card to open its full details.
  • Navigation β€” the sidebar becomes an overlay: open it with the menu button (☰) in the top-left corner, close it by tapping outside it or by choosing an entry. Your role and organisational-unit filters work exactly as on desktop.
  • Search and filters β€” the search box and the sidebar filters are fully available.
  • Activity details β€” open in full screen for comfortable reading, in both portrait and landscape orientation.
  • Language switching and account access β€” the flag menu and the account button in the top bar work as on desktop.
  • Editing β€” for administrators, the edit forms (organisation details, contacts, addresses, organisational units, contracts) adapt to small screens: fields stack vertically and dialogs open full screen. Editing on a phone is intended for emergencies; a desktop screen is more comfortable for anything beyond a quick correction.

What is desktop-only

Some tasks rely on drag-and-drop or a code editor and are not usable on a phone. On the Organisation settings screen (Edit organisation), their tiles are disabled, with a short explanation when you press them, so you stay on the settings screen instead of opening something you cannot use. The affected tasks are:

  • Configuring languages β€” choosing which languages your register is available in, and their order, is done by dragging language cards between columns.
  • Editing templates β€” the Handlebars template editor needs a full code editor.

Opening one of these directly (for example from a saved link) simply returns you to the settings screen with the same notice. Use a desktop computer for both.

Tips for small screens

  • Landscape works too β€” turning the phone sideways keeps the mobile layout and opens activity details full screen.
  • Dialogs β€” on phones, dialogs always open full screen; the enlarge/shrink button you see on desktop is hidden because it would have no effect.
